WrestleMania 28 Results And Review

0 By Jason Matthew

Last year’s WresleMania, many would say, was a bit of a letdown. The always- reliable Undertaker and Triple H put on a great show on the Grandest Stage Of Them All, but aside from that, it was hardly memorable. This year’s WrestleMania was a huge improvement in nearly every aspect. Without further ado, here are the results.

Daniel Bryan Vs Sheamus

By far the worst match of the night. Over in a grand total of 18 seconds, when D Bryan went over to kiss AJ , only to turn around and eat a Brogue Kick from Sheamus, who then got the pinfall. Waste of time.

Kane Vs Orton

This was the first shocker of the night. The match was merely OK (neither Randy nor Kane often have a memorable match), but the finish was genuinely surprising. I thought for sure WWE would give the win to Orton, who seems to never lose at PPVs. Apparently it was also his birthday. That sucks. Anyway, a top rope chokeslam made Orton meet his end.

Cody Rhodes Vs Big Show

After taunting Big Show with a ton of hilarious video packages making him look like a total idiot (which were arguably more entertaining than this match), Cody Rhodes got the WMD punch and Big Show got the pinfall. So he finally got his WrestleMania moment after all these years. “WrestleMania baby, whooo!”

Kelly Kelly and Maria Menounos vs. Eve and Beth Phoenix

Piss break time. This match wasn’t terrible, but it was hardly memorable. Kelly Kelly did the coolest moves, like a cool top-rope finisher on Beth at the end, taking home the victory.

Undertaker Vs Triple H

Match of the night. This was even better than their epic match up last year. Total Hell In A Cell madness, with chair shots, Pedigrees, Tombstones, Hell’s Gates and spinebusters onto the steel steps! There was no blood (though there should have been), but besides that this match could not have been much better. I thought HBK would make a dirty finish, but he (mostly) called it down the middle. When HBK tried to stop the match a few times, Taker put him in a Hell’s Gate. In retailiation, HBK gave him the Sweet Chin Music, setting him up for a Pedigree by HHH, which is where I thought the streak was finished. Amazingly, he still kicked out and finished HHH with another Tombstone. The Undertaker takes home the 20-0 streak! Taker and HBK carried Triple H out of the ring and waved to the crowd, after what may have been Taker’s final match.

Team Teddy Vs Team Johnny

After all the burying WWE has been trying to do to Miz lately, he not only made it to WrestleMania, but took home the victory for Team Johnny, ending his uncomfortably-long losing streak (with some help from Hoeski Eve). This makes Miz 3-0 at WrestleMania! Unfortunately, it also means that we have to listen to Johnny on both RAW and SmackDown now.

CM Punk Vs Chris Jericho

Right before this match, GM Johnny made a stipulation that if the match ended in a DQ, Jericho got the belt. Fortunately, there was no such lame finish, and Jericho and Punk put on a wrestling clinic and showed that they are both some of the best wrestlers in the world. Jericho hit Punk with not only a suplex off the apron to the floor (which normally always get reversed) but also multiple Walls Of Jerichos and even the old school Lion Tamer, with the knee on the neck! The were Codebreakers, GTS’s and LionSaults galore, and finally Punk tapped Jericho out with the Anaconda Vise. Great match!

Another unexpected outcome! All signs pointed to Cena winning this match, despite almost everyone wanting to see Rocky win. However, The Rock came out on top after a very back-and-forth brawl (not much technical wrestling here from either part), when Cena got cocky and tried to do a People’s Elbow, where midway through The Rock popped up and gave Cena a final Rock Bottom. I was expecting some kind of run-in, especially since there were rumors that Brock Lesnar was in Miami and has supposedly signed a 1 year contract with WWE. However, it ended with a clean finish and most of the crowd went home happy. Overall, it was one of the best WrestleManias I’ve had the pleasure of viewing.
