TMNT: Season Two, Casey Jones Details From Comic-Con 2013

1 By Jason Matthew

Here’s a round-up of all the latest TMNT news about Season Two, Casey Jones, and the Season One finale from a panel at Comic-Con 2013.

At a Comic-Con 2013 panel for Nick’s Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles series, executive producers Ciro Nieli and Peter Hastings, alongside story editor Brandon Auman discussed the long-awaited series finale, season two, and the arrival of fan-favorite character Casey Jones (voiced by Josh Peck). They were joined by many of the show’s voice cast, including Sean Astin (voice of Raphael), Greg Cipes (voice of Michelangelo), Rob Paulsen (voice of Donatello), Mae Whitman (voice of April O’Neil) and Kevin Michael Richardson (voice of Shredder).

Season Two of TMNT begins with the Turtles accidentally dropping a shipment of the Kraang’s mutagen that is scattered throughout New York City. One of the main plotlines throughout Season Two revolves around their goal of retrieving the canisters before more mutant monsters can be created. Not only that, but the Kraang and Shedder have put aside their differences for the moment to focus their efforts on the Turtles. It’s not all bad news for the heroes in a half-shell, though, as hockey-mask wearing vigilante Casey Jones joins the fight alongside the sewer dwellers. While trying to put a stop to their enemies’ plans, the heroes will also need to solve the mystery surrounding what makes April O’Neil so important to the Kraang.

Highlighting the panel was a sneak peek at Casey Jones, who is described as “a rebellious teenager about to be kicked off the hockey team.”  When he learns about the Turtles and their fight against the mutant and alien invaders, he refuses to stand idly by, and dons his trademark hockey mask and homemade weapons. In the trailer, it’s revealed that Casey has been de-aged to around April’s age of sixteen, and seems to be missing some teeth, probably in a hockey match or handing out some vigilante justice. We also get a look at him saving April from the clutches of an upgraded Mutagen Man (formerly The Pulverizer), who seems to have escaped from Donatello. In the trailer you can also see some behind-the-scenes sketches and ideas for Casey’s character, who sports some homemade sheaths crafted from duct tape and belts, and elbow pads and assorted hockey gear with a “Laird” logo on them, obviously referencing one of the Turtles’ original creators, Peter Laird. He wears goalie pads and gloves and has knives attached to his roller skates.

Also shown was a trailer for the TMNT Season One finale, as well as a look at an upcoming Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles game for Wii and Nintendo 3DS.
