Shenmue III – Sony’s Mark Cerny And Yu Suzuki “Talking Strategy”
Sony’s Mark Cerny and Sega’s Yu Suzuki might be working on the long-rumored Shenmue III.
Hot on the heels of news that Half-Life 3 may actually, finally, be a real thing, comes more interesting news. Fans of another great franchise long overdue for a sequel, Shenmue, may soon be able to get their hands on Shenmue III. The second game in the series ended on a huge cliffhanger, back in 2001. So honestly, Shenmue diehards have been waiting even longer for a new entry than Half-Life fans.
There’s been talk for a while now about Sega re-releasing the first two games in the series in one of those oh-so-popular HD collections, and now the following tweet has surfaced, showing Sony’s Mark Cerny and Sega’s legendary game designer Yu Suzuki together.
That was tweeted by Game Developer’s Conference director Meggan Scavio on her account. The text says, “Mark Cerny & Yu Suzuki talking strategy for Shenmue III. For reals you guys.” Some may remember Mark Cerny as the man who presented the PlayStation 4, he’s also the lead architect for the system. Does this mean that Sony is saving Shenmue III after all these years? Will Shenmue III be a PlayStation 4 exclusive? Only time will tell, but color us excited.
