Rocksteady Officially Confirms Suicide Squad Game

0 By Jason Matthew

Rocksteady Studios, the makers of the Batman Arkham series of video games, has officially revealed their next project will be a Suicide Squad game.

In the five years since Arkham Knight was released, there has been a lot of speculation about what their next project could be. Would it be a Superman game, a Justice League game, a Ninja Turtles game? While any of those would have been very cool to see, it seems the rumors and speculation can finally stop.

“Target locked – #DCFanDome – August 22. #suicidesquadgame” reads the tweet from Rocksteady’s account. The DC FanDome hashtag refers to an online event DC Comics is holding on August 22, where it seems that Rocksteady is all set to properly announce its upcoming game.

It seems that the Justice League rumors may not be totally false, however; the image teasing the project on the Twitter post shows a crosshair on the back of Superman’s head. Logic says the superteam must be involved in some way. Will the Suicide Squad be hunting down Supes in this upcoming game? Some gamers would probably much prefer to play as the all-powerful Clark Kent, but this announcement is one that I did not see coming and could be very interesting if done correctly. Rocksteady hasn’t made a bad game since the first Arkham, so I have high hopes for this one.

Last month, Eurogamer reported on a few new internet domains like “SuicideSquadKillTheJusticeLeague.com” and “gothamknightsgame.com,” that were registered by a company affiliated with Warner Bros. The Gotham Knights one is reported to be in development by Warner Bros. Montreal, the studio behind Arkham Origins.

We’ll surely find out more about Rocksteady’s Suicide Squad on August 22, during DC’s 24-hour-long virtual FanDome event. It’s been a long time coming, but a new game is finally almost here!
