MoviePass Limits Tickets To Three Films A Month
As you’ve surely heard by now, MoviePass has been having a ton of problems lately. First, they introduced Surge Pricing for big blockbuster movies, and then the service suffered outages for entire days due to their parent company running out of money. Then, MoviePass announced that they were going to be upping the price of their service to $14.95 a month, a 50% increase from their previous price of $9.95 a month.
This came after news that you wouldn’t be able to see big blockbuster movies like Mission Impossible: Fallout in theaters, at least not until weeks after their release. Customers left the service in droves after these announcements, and now MoviePass has announced that they are going back to the $9.95 subscription model. They’re also planning on giving subscribers $5 off of additional movie tickets. MoviePass claims that only 15 percent of their customers use the service more than 4 times a month, and says that 85 percent of their base will not be affected by the change, which brings it in line with AMC’s Stubs pass, which is $19.95 a month and offers 3 movies a month plus some extras.
