Broken Age: Act 2 Development Update

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]It’s been a while since Part 1 of the Kickstarter-funded Double Fine adventure game Broken Age released, and people have been eagerly awaiting the (hopefully) exciting conclusion. With allegations of funds mismanagement thrown at developer Double Fine over their decision to release the game in two parts, they have been fairly quiet and reserved about the situation. But recently Ricey012 (aka Greg Rice at Double Fine) took to the Broken Age forum on Steam to issue the following statement. This is the first bit of news about Broken Age Part 2 the public has gotten in a while. Perhaps an early 2015 release will be in the cards.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/1″][blockquote type=”blockquote_quotes” align=”center” width=”560″]Hey guys, I know things have been a bit quiet here and folks have been wondering how Act 2 development is coming! We’ve been heads down working as hard as we can to get the rest of the game in your hands, but I wanted to pop in and let you know where things are!

We are currently in our final alpha development sprint for Shay’s half of Act 2. At the end of next week his section of Act 2 will be playable from start to finish with blocked animation! Then it’s off to the studio for another voice recording session while the team rolls on to developing Vella’s half of Act 2.

We’re currently hoping to wrap up Act 2 by the end of the year. I know that’s later than most of you were hoping, but everything in this game is hand crafted and just takes time, and we want to make sure we deliver something that hits the quality bar we set with Act 1.[/blockquote][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/1″][reveal title=”Broken Age Press Release” open=”false” color=”grey-lite”]Broken Age is Now Available on Steam!

The first graphic adventure by Tim Schafer in sixteen years, Broken Age began two years ago in a historic, record-breaking Kickstarter campaign. Now it’s here in all its beautiful, 2D, hand-painted glory, with an original orchestral soundtrack and an all-star vocal cast.

Broken Age is a timeless coming-of-age story of barfing trees and talking spoons. Vella Tartine and Shay Volta are two teenagers in strangely similar situations, but radically different worlds. The player can freely switch between their stories, helping them take control of their own lives, and dealing with the unexpected adventures that follow.

They said adventure games were dead, but then Broken Age punched its hand out of the grave and grabbed you by the wrist and you screamed just like in the end of Carrie except what you screamed was “I love adventure games so much!” And sorry I spoiled the end of Carrie.
