Slipknot Premiere New Song “The Negative One”, First Track In Six Years1 By Jason Matthew
Slipknot has recently been teasing a long-awaited and highly anticipated fifth album, after six years of silence following the death of bassist Paul Gray. The new track, “The Negative One”, is fast and hard-hitting, and may be the final recording with drummer Joey Jordison, who left the group in 2013. This is also the first Slipknot track recorded without Paul Gray, who died of an overdose in 2010. Listen to “The Negative One” below or on Slipknot’s official website.
Vocalist Corey Taylor has described the direction of the as-yet untitled new album as “a great mesh” of 2001′s ‘Iowa’ and 2004′s ‘Vol. 3: (The Subliminal Verses).’ “You’ve got the gorgeous melodies and the artistic direction of ‘Vol. 3′ and then you’ve got the absolute brutality of ‘Iowa,’ he said. “And I think people are gonna lose their minds when they hear it.”
