Nintendo’s Wii U Launch Lineup DetailedJune 8, 2011
Nintendo unleashed a perfect storm on its competitors today, being the first out of the gate with next-generation hardware with the Wii U. The big N did not shy away from flaunting its much-hyped hardcore cred, as it showed off a video detailing titles in development from major third party franchises.
Ninja Gaiden 3, Assassin’s Creed, Darksiders, and more were on hand to show that this truly is not the kid console that the Wii was infamous for being. Notably, Ninja Gaiden 3 for Wii U showed Ryu tearing through enemies with his katana as bones cracked and blood spewed everywhere. Nintendogs this is not.
After years of being the technical underdog, Nintendo once again has a leg up on the competition with the Wii U. That is, at least until the successors to the PS3 and Xbox 360 are unveiled. Hopefully Nintendo will seize this opportunity and reclaim its place as a company who makes games everyone loves, not just children.
