WWE 2K15 / WWE 2K14 Graphics Comparison – Randy OrtonAugust 26, 2014
Today 2K released a video featuring The Viper, Randy Orton’s entrance in the highly-anticipated WWE 2K15. The visual updates are immediately apparent – the Apex Predator has never looked better – and so we decided to do another graphical comparison between WWE 2K15 and its predecessor, WWE 2K14.
The differences between the screenshots showcased here are quite drastic, for a few reasons – the WWE 2K14 shots are taken from PlayStation 3 gameplay, and upscaled from 720p, that game’s native resolution. The WWE 2K15 footage is 1080p, and features all of the bells and whistles of the next-gen iteration of the wrestling franchise. 2K took full body scans of all of the WWE Superstars for WWE 2K15, as well as 50 days worth of motion capture data, and it shows. Randy Orton’s face looks dead-on – from his scruffy beard, to his angry scowl, to the little scar on top of his head, 2K has captured every detail of his likeness. Even all of his tattoos are perfectly recreated. In the WWE 2K15 shots you can see that Randy’s t-shirt is form fitting and hugs his body, and you can see his collar bones through it, as opposed to the nondescript, one-size-fits-all tees from the previous game. The crowd has also been quite noticeably updated, with actual mouths and individual fingers, a higher polygon count than we’ve seen previously, as well as higher-resolution textures. They look good enough now that Visual Concepts and Yuke’s didn’t feel the need to hide them beneath the depth of field effect. I also like the fact that their appearance is more randomized – I didn’t see any noticeable “clones”, and now some fans wear gear supporting more than one Superstar. For instance you can see one fan wearing a Randy Orton t-shirt as well as a CM Punk hat. We’re definitely excited to see some more entrances from WWE 2K15, so we can do some more graphical comparisons!
