Propellerhead, the developers of the DAW Reason, has announced that Reason 8 will be coming at the end of September. The major change in Reason 8 being a complete overhaul of the browser menu, now there will be drag and drop functionality instead of the previous method of opening a pop-up browser to load patches and presets. Additionally, the Line 6 plugins will be phased out in coming versions and version 8 will introduce two Softube effects for guitar and bass. Information seems to indicate that there will be more features announced closer to release, and Propellerhead has a history of uprising users and beta testers with additional features. The upgrade to Reason 8 will be paid for users who have bought Reason before July 1st at the cost of 129.00 USD and free to those who bought Reason after July 1st 2014. Reason 8 will be available for purchase worldwide on September 30, 2014 at the following suggested retail pricing:

Reason 8: £349 RRP inc VAT
Reason Essentials 8: £99 RRP inc VAT
Reason 8 Upgrade (from any previous Reason version): £89 RRP inc VAT

Propellerhead is also offering a grace period for customers who purchased Reason 7 on or after July 1, 2014. Purchasing and registering a qualifying product today makes users eligible for a free upgrade to Reason 8 when it becomes available.
