Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End E3 2014 Trailer
Naughty Dog has revealed the next chapter in the critically-acclaimed Uncharted series, titled Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End. Set to release in 2015, it looks to be the final entry in the franchise.
Sony’s E3 press conference closed out with this short teaser, in which an older Nathan Drake awakens bruised and battered in a riverbank, before reaching for his handgun and venturing into a dense jungle. The camera pans over to a bunch of skeletons in cages, and one cage has the following words inscribed on it: “For we receive the due reward of our deeds”. The footage is preceded by a note stating that the footage was captured on a PlayStation 4, but this seems like odd wording – is this in-game footage or not? It looks absolutely incredible if so – the lighting, dense foliage, and breathtaking realism of Drake’s character model are unmatched by just about anything else we’ve seen thus far on PlayStation 4.
Sony has teased Uncharted 4 since before the launch of the PlayStation 4, and there has been a lot of behind-the-scenes turmoil at Naughty Dog, with longtime series writer Amy Hennig leaving the company, followed shortly by game director Justin Richmond. The Last of Us directors Neil Druckmann and Bruce Straley are now overseeing Nathan Drake’s next adventure.
