Mortal Kombat X Trailer
Mortal Kombat X has officially been unveiled, with an atmospheric trailer showcasing a battle between Sub-Zero and Scorpion. Set for a 2015 release, Mortal Kombat X will be available for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, PS3, Xbox 360, and PC, according to Warner Bros.
Whether the trailer is pre-rendered or in-game footage is tough to discern, but it shows some interesting gameplay innovations such as environmental attacks — Sub-Zero breaks off a tree branch and hits Scorpion with it, and Scorpion leaps from another tree at his foe. You can also see the return of weapons, as Sub-Zero’s sword is used a few times and Scorpion uses his blade for a gruesome fatality at the end.
Mortal Kombat X also brings back the X-Ray moves from Mortal Kombat 9, and they look even more brutal this time around due to the enhanced graphics. The official press release states, “Fueled by next-gen technology, Mortal Kombat X combines unparalleled, cinematic presentation with dynamic gameplay to create an unprecedented Kombat experience.”
“Mortal Kombat X launches players into a persistent online contest where every fight matters in a global battle for supremacy. For the first time, Mortal Kombat X gives players the ability to choose from multiple variations of each character impacting both strategy and fighting style. Players step into an original story showcasing some of the game’s most prolific characters including Scorpion and Sub-Zero, while introducing new challengers that represent the forces of good and evil and tie the tale together.”
