Guitarcraft App Review

Guitarcraft App Review

In terms of both ease of use and sound quality, Guitarcraft is the best app of its kind on the Android platform.

With the advent of Guitar Pro and its ilk, many guitarists have taken to the digital realm to jot down their creative ideas. It was only a matter of time before someone decided to shrink the idea down for the mobile platform, and though there have been a few apps in the vein of Digitl‘s Guitarcraft, none have been done quite so well. In terms of both ease of use and sound quality, Guitarcraft is the best app of its kind on the Android platform. And most importantly, it’s fun to use.

It takes a few minutes to get your head wrapped around how Guitarcraft works, but once you figure it out it’s pretty intuitive. When you load up the app, you decide on what tuning you want, as well as low or high gain and reverb intensity. After that, the guitar fretboard appears, and it’s as simple as tapping notes to begin creating. You simply set the tempo and tap out the notes to a riff, and hit the chord button when needed. You can also use vibrato, bends, and repeats.

Once you’re satisfied with your creation, you hit the record button. Here you hit a large button in the rhythm you want the riff/ solo to be in. It can be pretty tricky to get the timing right, and I did notice that sometimes the button was either too sensitive or a bit unresponsive. That said, the rest of the app works flawlessly. One feature that I hope is implemented in the future is the ability to create mp3s of your creations and email them, and perhaps an easier way of moving around song sections.

Guitarcraft Android App 2 - Amp

Overall, Guitarcraft is a very solid app worth its price for any guitarist, and even those who just have an interest in the subject. The amp effects sound great, as well as the different reverb settings, which adds to the realism and makes jotting down ideas pretty fun. Guitarcraft has already been updated in its short time on the Google Play store, so hopefully the small kinks can be ironed out.
