Check out debut trailers and screens for Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag.
Ubisoft has pulled back the curtain on Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag a bit early, after leaked photos surfaced over the weekend. Featuring a brand-new hero and setting, the game will take place in the golden age of pirates and feature “ the most diverse and seamless Assassins Creed world ever created.”
A whole bunch of Ubisoft studios pitched in to make Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag a reality. Though it’s primarily developed by one of the veteran Assassin’s Creed teams in Montreal, studios in Annecy, Bucharest, Kiev, Quebec, Singapore and Sofia all contributed to the title. The game is being developed for PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, Wii U, PC, and PlayStation 4, as well as “other next generation consoles”. The current-gen editions will be available on October 29th,2013.
“With the new hero and new setting we are creating the boldest and most unique Assassins Creed game yet, while still respecting the pillars of the franchise that have made it such a fan favorite,” said Yves Guillemot, chief executive officer at Ubisoft.
Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag follows Edward Kenway, a young British man (no doubt related to Assassin’s Creed III’s Haytham Kenway) who starts out privateering for the Royal Navy, but soon falls into piracy as the war between the major Empires comes to an end. Set at the beginning of the 18th century, the game will feature some of the most infamous pirates in history, such as Blackbeard and Charles Vane.
Ubisoft promises that Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag will feature over 50 locations to explore, as well as both new and classic Assassin weaponry. The game will reward both stealth and action-based gameplay, and multiplayer once again is a major component of the package.
PlayStation gamers will once again get exclusive content- both the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4 versions of Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag will be privy to 60 minutes of additional downloadable content, after the game’s launch. Customers who with to pre-order the game at GameStop will get an exclusive poster drawn by award-winning artist Todd McFarlane (whose McFarlane Toys company is making a set of Assassin’s Creed III figures very soon).
