inFAMOUS: Second Son Announced for PlayStation 4
Sucker Punch reveals the next generation iteration of the inFamous franchise.
At yesterday’s PlayStation Meeting 2013, Sucker punch unveiled the new entry in their flagship franchise, inFamous: Second Son. The PlayStation 4 exclusive will feature an all new hero, Delsin Rowe, with new powers in a brand new city.
Delsin Rowe is the star of inFamous Second Son: a 24 year-old who believes he’s destined for greatness, but hasn’t found his calling just yet. He grew up in Seattle, and one day his calling comes crashing into his life; upon rescuing passengers in a fiery bus wreck, he realizes he now posseses the ability to direct, manipulate and even transform into smoke.
PlayStation 4’s inFamous: Second Son takes place 7 years after Cole McGrath’s episodes in the series, and the world has changed since then. Those showing signs of being a so-called “bio-terrorist” are hunted by the Department of Unified Protection (DUP) — a government agency created to ensure there is never a repeat of the catastrophic events of Empire City and New Marais. Delsin finds himself on the DUP’s radar, but decides he’s definitely not going to go quietly. The game poses the question of whether it’s worth giving up our personal freedoms in order to maintain the illusion of security in our modern world.
You’ll see plenty of familiar Seattle landmarks in inFamous: Second Son, and the game takes full advantage of the PlayStation 4’s horsepower. For an open world game, it looks absolutely stunning, with facial modeling and animation being a true standout in the game’s trailer, which Sucker Punch doesn’t hesitate to reveal is all made in the game’s in-house engine.
No release date has been given for inFamous: Second Son yet, but we have a feeling it will be coming shortly after the PlayStation 4 launch this holiday.
