Sony Not Sure If PSN Users’ Credit Card Info Has Been Compromised

As Sony loyalists deal with the frustration of having PSN down for six days now, there is now one more thing to be worried about. The company is unsure if the 75 million users’ credit card info has been compromised.

According to SCE Tokyo spokesman Satoshi Fukuoka, the company is conducting a through investigation into what caused the outage, but no new information is available yet.

He stated that they are not sure at this point if users’ credit card info has been compromised, but if they find that is the case, they will issue a statement about it immediately.

Sony has provided very few updates on the matter, saying it is “rebuilding” the network and it could take some serious time. News came out last night that the downtime may have been caused by some people using custom firmware to create fake credit card info, and getting anything they wanted on the store for free.
